Nepotism at its best in DAP
DAP’s Sibu parliamentary by-election manifesto or slogan – Sibu’s Agenda for Change – is indeed very interesting, especially when it is promoted by a never-changing coalition of a family dynasty.
Change we must, and we all support change in almost every aspect of our life, except that we can’t change our parents.
As a nation, we have definitely changed, or transformed from what we were 50 years ago. No right thinking Malaysian, even if he or she is from Ulu Kapit, can deny this fact.
Change as we experience in this country is a process of evolution, not revolution. We must change for the nation but not change solely to satisfy the lusts of any particular individual or a family-owned party.
We are constantly changing and even the blind man could tell you that we have changed for the better, of course with some hiccups here and there.
Nothing could satisfy everyone in a country as diverse as Malaysia, especially in a land like Sarawak where there are almost 30 different ethnic groups.
Such is the fabric of our rich society that we will continue to have complaints, grievances, demands etc from almost every strata of the society.
But, are we a failed nation? Think!
Coming back to DAP and its clarion call for the people in Sibu to change.
“If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves” – Carl Jung
The above quote applies perfectly to DAP, in particular its national and Sarawak leaders, in relation to their latest war-cry in Sibu.
Before you ask others to change are you not duty-bound to change first?
DAP as a political party hasn’t changed for more than five decades (that is 50 years). This, my fellow rakyat of Sarawak, is an undeniable FACT.
Since its official formation in 1966 (plus a few more years before that), DAP is Lim Kit Siang and Lim Kit Siang is DAP.
DAP is and has been a One-Man dictatorship, with the full support of the Lim Dynasty.
DAP’s structure of leadership has not experienced any true sense of changed since its inception in 1966.
The party supremo is still Lim Kit Siang and his crown prince Lim Guan Eng. (though their title/position was changed a couple of times to lull the people)
Almost all the political parties have changed their leaders and office bearers (except maybe for the MIC) in the last few decades but what about those who are shouting and crying out for change like DAP?
Throughout his political life, Lim Kit Siang has been calling on BN leaders to quit because ‘you have been too long”, ‘give others a chance’, ‘you are getting old’ etc, but what about him?
Where is the change that you are shouting about Mr.Lim Kit Siang?
NEPOTISM of the highest order is so glaring in the DAP that even the socialist party’s supporters are beginning to liken it to a private limited company. – family-owned DAP Sdn.Bhd.
You can’t blame the critics as nepotism in DAP has become an in-built culture.
When Lim Kit Siang reluctantly moved on from the powerful secretary-general’s post to be the party Chairman, he preserved the coveted secretary-general’s post for Lim Guan Eng.
Malacca’s Kerk Kim Hock was made to warm the secretary-general’s post until Guan Eng sorted out his legal/personal problems. Once Guan Eng was ready, Kim Hock was unceremoniously removed and sent to the political wilderness. He has since retired from politics.
Circa 2003 Guan Eng and his wife Betty (Malacca state assembly-woman for Durian Daun then) was thrown out by DAP members in Malacca in the state party elections.
Kerk and his team saw the growth of the Lim Dynasty in DAP but not only that they couldn’t contain it, they also ended up being the victim.
DAP’s CHONG DYNASTY in Sarawak is an exact replica of the LIM DYNASTY in Semenanjung. The senior Chong, junior Chong, his mother, uncle, aunty, brother’s girlfriend and mother-in-law are all actively building their own branch and division. – THIS IS A FACT IN DAP SARAWAK.
If the above facts are not NEPOTISM of the highest order, I don’t know what nepotism is then.
Throughout the LIM Dynasty’s reign of power in DAP no less than 150 young capable leaders were unceremoniously removed, sidelined or sacked from the party as they were seen as a threat to the Lim Dynasty.
DAP’s former Bukit Bintang Member of Parliament Wee Choo Keong, a once young and upcoming DAP grassroots leader, for instance was sacked from the party for being a threat to Lim Guan Eng’s rise in the party.
“Wee Choo Keong was sacked for ‘not showing affection’ to the DAP leadership of Lim Kit Siang. While he was entangled in a legal battle over the infamous MBF irregularities issue and risked his position as MP, Kit Siang took the opportunity to deal the death blow.
“During the same time, Lim Guan Eng was entangled in another legal battle with Rahim Thamby Chik and Lim Kit Siang unleashed the entire might of the DAP to defend and protect his crown prince”.
“I was hoodwinked for a good twenty years while in DAP but I realized one day that DAP was not interested in serving the people.
“Their only ambition was to ‘rule Penang” and since they have achieved it I doubt there is any other genuine ambition rather than ‘to share the loot’ in Penang. I hope the people of Sarawak are not easily fooled by DAP,” a former DAP leader from Kuching opined.
In 2004, DAP was almost totally wiped out from the face of earth because people saw the Lim Dynasty as a threat.
However in 2008, due entirely to the ‘total failure of Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as Prime Minister’ DAP got the much desired opportunity by default.
REMEMBER that in 2008 a large number of Malaysians voted against Barisan Nasional and NOT for DAP, PKR or PAS.
The BN leadership then and the 1Malaysia leadership under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak are poles apart in any given area.
There is no logical reason for the people to vote against the Barisan Nasional now, in 2010.
We Malaysians must START THINKING rationally and choose what is good for us and our children, and NOT BE FOOLED by those who just stoke emotions to remain relevant.
GOOD LUCK SIBU!
